Happy New Year and another gift for the SQL Community!
Wish you a Very Happy & Prosperous New Year ahead. I sincerely hope that you had a wonderful 2014 and 2015 should be even better.
In case you remember, SQLMaestros organized a special SQL Community Event in Bangalore on Nov 22 at Microsoft Bangalore. This event was a re-play of my TechEd US & PASS Summit session on SQL 2014 Resource Governor IO. In my last newsletter, I forgot to mention about the success of this event. So here is the blog post on the event that was so well received. Why was this event special? First because, it was a re-play of a top rated TechEd session. Second, the session lasted for about 3 hours. Typically, in community events, session duration is one hour. But this event was exclusive, the session level was advanced, coverage was in-depth and thus it lasted that long. I received such wonderful feedback that we plan to have more such special SQL events where we just focus on one topic and go really deep into it, making it a truly a special engagement. And to continue the journey, we have decided to name these events as SQL Special – hope you like it! So moving forward, SQLMaestros will occasionally organize SQL Special events across India and I would love to see you being a part of it. Read about the last SQL Special event here and download the resources!
In Dec last week (of the previous year), we compiled a wonderful piece of document which lists down all the SQL Server performance counters and their availability in SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 and 2014. A nice document that can sit on your desktop. This was a small Christmas gift from us. You can download it here!
This New Year, we have another small gift from you – Another wonderful piece of document that can help you find the availability of any DMV/DMF in any version of SQL Server starting from SQL 2005. This document lists down all the SQL Server DMVs/DMFs and their availability in SQL Server 2005, 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 and 2014. Another nice piece of document that can sit on your desktop. Download it here!
We are putting in lots of efforts to provide free resources to the SQL community. But I have a complaint – that you are not sharing these resources with your peers and friends and you are not helping us spread the word. So please share if you care. We had more than 3000 downloads instantly of both the documents combined, but hardly a few shares. So please share – all you have to do it just copy/paste this text on your social channel:
Some valuable resources from @SQLMaestros that every SQL DBA should have: http://www.sqlmaestros.com/sql-server-resources/
That’s it! Whichever social network you are part of, just spread the world so that more and more people can benefit! It’s a nice feeling to be on the giving side
